Support your community by volunteering
Volunteering can be an exciting, growing, enjoyable experience offering individuals an opportunity to support their communities.
Seeking: Home Library Service volunteers
We are currently seeking volunteers for Healesville Library.
Are you interested in delivering books and other library materials to people who can’t visit their local library?
All our library branches deliver materials to people who can no longer visit the library in-person. Our home library volunteers collect a bag of items from their local library and deliver it to people in their own homes or in aged care residences. They may stay for a chat and a cuppa, or just drop off and pick-up the loans.
What do you need?
You need your own car and an interest in helping people who get enjoyment from reading, watching or listening to books, audios or DVDs. We will match you with one or two people in your area and organise delivery times that suit your schedule. You will need to undertake a Police Check and obtain a Working with Children check.
We’ll help you to help others
Home Library Service is a rewarding way to help others continue to enjoy the benefits of the library from their own home.

Seeking: Chat and Connect Program Volunteers
At Your Library, we are currently developing a new Chat and Connect program for the Knox Council area. This program will involve trained volunteers visiting residential aged care and senior’s groups to deliver storytelling and reminiscence activities designed to enhance wellbeing through reflection and conversation as well as development of social connections.
We are currently welcoming expressions of interest from people who might like to become a volunteer for the program. If this sounds like something you would like to do, or if you would like to hear more, please contact us via email at volunteers@yourlibrary.vic.gov.au.
The Chat and Connect project has been supported by a grant from the Knox City Council Community Development Fund.
