Miller’s Homestead

Miller’s Homestead, built in 1888, is one of the finest 19th Century dwellings in the Knox area. Set in gracious gardens with views to the Dandenong Ranges, Miller’s is a vibrant community space, offering inspiring talks, art exhibitions & performances, community workshops, history events, storytimes, library services, and learning opportunities for all. There are delightful and varied spaces to hire for meetings, art happenings and small events. Public PCs, WiFi, printing, copying and scanning services are available. The fully fenced garden, with its tranquil atmosphere, is a beautiful space for a picnic.

Spaces

The Parlour

With its elegant proportions, soaring ceilings and French doors spilling onto the front verandah, the Parlour is a beautiful main event space for art exhibitions, music performances, author talks, group workshops and community gatherings. Our Family Storytime sessions are held here every Thursday at 11am and 2pm.

The Boardroom

12 people can be accommodated comfortably around the boardroom’s grand table. With French doors opening onto the front verandah and breathtaking views across the garden to the Dandenong Ranges, this is an inspiring space for meetings, learning sessions, AGMs, or art & craft workshops.

The Study

A place to work, with three PC workstations, available to book separately or together for small group learning sessions. This intimate room with French doors opening onto the side verandah can also be booked as a whole space for writers, students and community members requiring space to work on projects. Printing, scanning and copying facilities are available.

The Library

Browse our Local History, adult and junior collections, borrow books, pick up reservations or take a book out into the garden for a leisurely read under a tree.

The Verandah

Miller’s Homestead’s deep and generous wrap-around verandah is a lovely space for small, outside art workshops or exhibitions, music performances or taking in the sensational views of Mount Dandenong/Corhanwarrabul. Powerpoints and seating available.

The Gazebo Lawn

Enjoy the serenity of Miller’s fully fenced, lofty & lush garden spaces, including a large lawn with powered rotunda, heritage listed camelia walk and more intimate lawned areas connected by secret garden paths. Perfect for sculpture displays, yoga sessions, outside performances, story walks, picnics, or secret-garden-style exploration by little ones.

The Passage Gallery

Picture rails run the full length of the homestead’s generous hall and are a perfect space for exhibiting art. Expressions of interest are always sought.

The Scullery

A petite dining room, adjacent to the kitchen, that can be used for smaller meetings or activities and food and refreshment stations.

Family events

Family Storytimes will be held every Thursday at 11am and 2pm. Bookings essential. Keep your eye on our events calendar for a range of kids’ activities, including arts & craft sessions, technology showcases, STEAM activities, and an amazing school holiday program.
