Your Library Launches Loanable Laptops

Your Library is thrilled to announce the launch of our new Loanable Laptops program, expanding our Library of Things and providing vital technology access to the community.
Over 20 laptops are now available for loan at any Your Library branch, offering a crucial resource for those facing cost-of-living pressures or other circumstances that limit their access to technology. These Loanable Laptops are a direct response to the community’s needs, providing essential tools for education, employment, and everyday life.
Your Library’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Karina Lamb, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to providing free
access to technology:
“At Your Library, we see firsthand how access to technology can change lives. Whether it’s job seekers preparing applications, students completing coursework, or community building digital confidence, having the right tools is essential. That’s why we’re proud to launch laptops for loan as part of our Library of Things—helping to bridge the digital divide and ensuring no one is left behind,” said Dr Lamb.
With the rising cost of living, many in our community face tough choices, and owning a laptop isn’t always an option. Libraries have long been a vital safety net, and this initiative is another way we’re responding to real needs—supporting employment, education, and digital literacy. By providing free access to technology, this is another step in making our libraries more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to community needs,”
Dr Lamb added.
The laptops are equipped with the Microsoft Office suite, making them ideal for school assignments, job applications, form completion, and general use. They also feature a range of apps for photo editing, coding, and video calling, and serve as an excellent learning platform for those new to laptop technology.
Your Library members can borrow a laptop for up to three weeks, free of charge, with a Your Library membership.
Laptops can be reserved online through the library’s catalogue and returned to any branch.
To further support digital literacy, Your Library offers free technology support sessions. Community members can book a small group session with a Tech Support Officer for assistance with laptops or any other device.
